TOK Presentation - Patrycja Bartkowiak and Alex Grobelny from 3B (M21)

Last term we had an opportunity to deliver our TOK presentation. We decided to prepare a presentation about conspiracy theories, as earlier we had heard of some conspiracy theories about coronavirus. In our presentation, we mostly focused on chemtrails (a trail of chemicals left by an airplane at a high altitude), but we also mentioned flat earth and Area51.

The main KQ of our presentation was:

To what extent does the media affect our beliefs in conspiracy theories?

Interestingly, while looking for an answer to the question mentioned above, we found out that conspiracy theories may be very harmful to society. They spread mistrust and can lead to political apathy or radicalization. We realised that it is important to check if the information found on the Internet is true, especially nowadays, when people want to achieve fame or get some profits by spreading conspiracy theories.

The preparation of the presentation helped us expand our knowledge of the topic we had chosen and allowed us to test our public speaking skills.
