Paweł Pokorski, absolwent pierwszego rocznika IB w Koperniku (Matura 2011), dziś dumny student prawa uniwersytetu w Birmingham, tak ocenia swoją edukację w programie Matury Międzynarodowej i wynikające z niej korzyści:

“With the benefit of hindsight, I can say with no doubt that studying for the IB Diploma was a life-changing experience, substantially contributing to my positive performance as a student of English law at the University of Birmingham. One specific aspect of the Programme which has been of particular benefit to my present studies is the emphasis it placed on independent thinking. From participating in insightful debates in TOK to conducting hands-on research in Physics, we were never provided with ready answers: teachers were encouraging us to use our mental ability to find one for ourselves. Given the fact that the majority of my assignments at law school do not merely require me to know what the law is but also to have an opinion as to what it should be, the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills honed during the Diploma Programme are proving really useful now. The value of CAS activities is not to be disregarded either: being a leader of the Amnesty International group and volunteering in a local school taught me how to juggle extra-curricular responsibilities without compromising on my educational achievements. I am sure that if not for the time-management skills developed in high school I would now not be able to get involved in such a variety of activities at university, be it being a member of debating society or taking part in law school competitions, helping me to become a well-rounded individual and boosting my future employment prospects. Finally, studying for the IB Diploma made me a more globally-minded person, a quality taken for granted at one of the most cosmopolitan universities in the UK. Although interacting with students from a wide array of backgrounds has now become second nature to me, I know that this would have never been possible if not for the cross-cultural awareness acquired during the Diploma Programme, for example in the HL History course, in which we learnt to look at past events from different national perspectives. All in all, I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to be part of the great community of IB teachers and students at II Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace and I am certain that I will experience the positive impact of holding an IB Diploma for many years to come.”
